Tiny Book of Prayers & Case

Hey, Crafty Friends!
I'm here with Team Eileen today with this sweet little book of prayers. You can jot down your favorite devotionals or little tidbits of inspiration and take this with you on the go! A mini bible journal of sorts that is super easy to make.

Let me show you how...

Supplies Used
Eileen Hull Tiny Book (Sizzix)
Eileen Hull Tiny Book Case (Sizzix)
Big Shot  Machine (Sizzix)
Mat Board (Sizzix)
Garden Harvest Collection Pack (Jillibean Soup)
Creative Station (Xyron)
150 Sticker Maker (Xyron)
White Gel Pen (Sakura)
Mini Frame (Prima Marketing)
Graph/ Grid Paper
Liquid Glue
Craft Foam
Elastic
Stapler
Colored Twine/ Cording
Scissor
Rubberband (Optional)

Today, I used Eileen Hull's Tiny Book and Tiny Book Case Dies and paired it with these gorgeous Garden Harvest papers from Jillibean Soup.

I started bu cutting my 12" x 12" paper in half and making two 6" x 12" strips. These papers are double-sided and come with another gorgeous pattern on the back.

So, I ran the first strip through my Xyron Creative Station then flipped the second strip over and ran that through the Creative Station as well.

I attached it strips onto a single piece of white Mat Board placing a different pattern on each side.

Then, I die-cut the Mat Board using my Big Shot Machine and Tiny Book Case die.

Next, I folded the die-cut on the scorelines and folded the flaps toward the center.

Then added a strong clear-drying liquid glue to the inside edge of the front flap, then folded it over to form the box.

I made sure the sides were aligned properly, then secured in place with a rubber band till the glue set.

Look how fast that case came together!

And now, onto the book...

With the leftover Mat Board, I used the Tiny Book die to cut a matching book cover.

For the inside of my book, I cut down sheets of graphing paper. I like using graphing paper because the grid pattern is great for bullet journaling and it makes for great guides and practice sheets for hand-lettering.

For these Tiny Books, I cut my sheets to 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" then folded them in half and stapled them on the fold to create a mini-book.

Then fasten in place with a piece of twine and a simple double-knot.

To decorate, I cut our this image of a basket of flowers and glued a frame around it.

Once the glue was dried, I trimmed off the excess paper with a scissor.

I turned this tiny framed piece of art into a nifty closure simply by gluing elastic onto the back.

I used about a 7 1/2" strip of elastic band. The elastic I used is generally used for headbands. They are wider and a softer texture than the general elastic bands found in the sewing department of your craft store.

To decorate my tiny book, I punched out a flower bundle from a sheet full of die-cut print-outs that were included in my paper collection.

I cut the flower in half, then ran it through my Xyron "X" Sticker Maker and attached it to the front cover of my tiny book- leaving a gap between the two pieces.

On the same sheet of punch-outs, I used the word "Blessed". I used a White Gel Pen to outline to frame the word, then backed it with a thin strip of foam adhesive and attached it over the gap on the front cover.

And here are my finished pieces together...

These fit together perfectly!

And are the perfect size from on the go or traveling!

You can fill these with daily scriptures, affirmations, or motivational quotes...
They also make great gifts too!

I hope you enjoyed today's projects and are inspired to make one of your own!!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

And as always...
HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Tiny Book & Tiny Book Case Follow-up Tutorial

Hi, Crafty Friends.
If you joined me last week for the Eileen Hull Release party, I'm sure you recognized today's project! And as promised, I am back with the follow-up tutorial to show you how I created these tiny cuties. These are one cut wonders that make assembly and decorating a breeze. Let me show you!!

Supplies Used
Eileen Hull Tiny Book (Sizzix)
Eileen Hull Tiny Book Case (Sizzix)
Big Shot  Machine (Sizzix)
Mat Board (Sizzix)
Jofy 75 Cling Stamp Set ( Paper Artsy)
140 lb Mixed Media Paper
Inktense Pencils (Derwent)
Tim Holtz Phrases 2 Clear Stamps Set (Stamper's Anonymous)
Tim Holtz THMM104 (Stamper's Anonymous)
PITT Artist Pen (Faber-Castell)
White Gel Pen (Sakura)
VersaFine Onyx Black (Tsukineko/ Imagine Crafts)
MISTI (My Sweet Petunia)
Life Changing Blending Brushes (Picket Fence Studios)
2mm Elastic Cording
Heart-Shaped Brad

Using my Big Shot machine, I die cut white Mat Board using Eileen Hull's Tiny Book & Tiny Book Case.

I used my blending brushes to ink on Distress Oxide Inks in Spiced Marmalade & Picked Raspberry.

I used my black Small (S) PITT Artist pen to draw a squiggly frame around the front perimeter of my Tiny Book. Then filled the squiggles with black stripes.

I placed my stencil over my die-cut and stenciled on more of the SAME ink (Picked Raspberry) only in the center of the frame.

Easy-peasy so far, right?! Look how cute it is already!
I could stop there and it would still be cute but I wanted to add some funky florals...

So, I stamped some flowers and leaves from the Jofy 75 stamp set onto mixed paper using the VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

Then I colored my images using my Inktense Pencils and blended the colors out with a water brush pen and cut out all the images by hand.

Before adding my flowers and leaves, I filled the rest of my striped areas with a White Opaque Gel Pen.

I cut the images apart making them short enough to fit onto my book and then attached them to my cover.

Once my flowers were attached, I used my MISTI  to stamp my sentiment onto the cover.

Instead of making inserts for this teeny tiny guy, I opted to fill him with a sweet treat. I found that the Recess Peanut Butter Cup THINS fit perfectly!!

Once the Tiny Book was finished I repeated the same steps onto my book case...

Now, both the book and the cover match!!

To close the case, I added clear drying glue along along all the tabs except for the top flap.

Once the glue dried, I took my Die Pick Tool and poked a small hole towards the point of the flap and another hole where the flap meets under the indent on the case.

I used 2mm elastic cording to make a tiny loop on the top cover flap and fastened a heart-shaped brad into the other hole so that when the elastic is looped around the heart it'll stay closed.

When fastening your brad, make sure not to fasten it flush against the matboard. You want to leave a slight gap so the elastic can hook under the brad to fasten.

And here is my finished project...

These colors are so bright and cheerful and are sure to make anyone smile!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and are inspired to create a TINY bit of cheer too!!

Until Next Time...
HAPPY CRAFTING!!
